OMG! Limecrime Velvetines: Suedeberry

This is a first for London Beauty Banter!! Never before have American indie cosmetic GIANTS, Limecrime graced my little corner of the tinterwebz... Until now!! I was super super lucky a few weeks ago to win a giveaway on Facebook hosted by the gorgeous and talented Karla and this was my prize! I've heard all kinds of hype about the Velvetines and might just have let out a massive SQUEE when this finally popped through my mailbox this morning!! I just HAD to get this post out tonight. It was killing me!!

So here is THE ultra-matte liquid lipstick of the moment...
Limecrime Velvetines in Suedeberry

Not gonna lie, even before this product hits the lips it is visually STUNNING! It comes in a frosted glass tube (it applies with a wand like a gloss) with a beautifully patterned lid.

Suedeberry is a hotter-than-hot orange toned red shade. It just SCREAMS summer and I adore an orangey lippy myself (MAC Morange was the first in my collection). I will just mention though... The shade appears slightly more red in the flesh than I've picked up on camera. What impressed me so much about this product is the crazy pigmentation. It just sweeps on with the wand and you hardly have to go over it at all! It also LASTS. And I mean LASTS! It took washing up liquid and a scourer to get the swatch off my hand earlier. This is a lip colour that you can rely on to endure the longest day or the messiest night out. You'll still be wearing it in the morning haha.

(Forgive me the eyebags... I'd just got back from work)
The finish is about as matte as they come. However, it is not drying in the slightest and while I wouldn't call it a moisturising product by any means, it feel very comfortable on the lips. It's a product which you can apply and happily forget about for most of the day without having to worry about reapplying or drying.

In terms of the nature of the beast, I guess I'd liken this product to the Rimmel Apocalips as one of those lipstick/lipgloss/lipstain hybrids. The major difference being the super-matte finish. It does kinda knock Apocalips out of the water in terms of longevity though. It also only comes in two shades. Suedeberry and Red Velvet, which is just the most perfect rock'n'roll matte red. Luckily, Limecrime have just had a MASSIVE restock on their site (these babies sold out QUICK the first time around) so I'm seriously considering making Red Velvet mine as well. I've just given up smoking so, as God is my witness, if I make it through the first 2 weeks I am gonna treat myself.

Limecrime offer international shipping from their US website limecrimemakeup.com. Prices are comparable to the likes of MAC (you have to work it out though as it's listed in USD) and you will have to pay international shipping to the UK. Velvetines are listed at $16.99.

All Limecrime products are Vegan-Friendly and totally Cruelty-Free.

Are you a fan of a matte finish?? Are lip lacquers your thing?? Do you rock a red lip??

  5. I've been lusting after these for so long but two things have stopped me, firstly the amount of time this goes out of stock, plus the whole ongoing LimeCrime/Doe Deere debacle is something I can't seem to shake. However, it looks beautiful on you and for anyone looking for dupes, I hear it's quite similar to the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams and the Collection Cream Puff's formula! xx

    1. Not tried the NYX but the Creme Puffs have got nothing on this. The finish is different and they don't last anywhere near as long x
